Will turned two months old a week ago. He is a BIG dude. At the pediatrician visit last week he weighed in at 15 pounds 4 ounces! Miles was the same weight at seven months old.
The last month has been eventful. We've ridden the wave of fussiness to its peak and back down again. There were some really rough weeks in there, a night where he cried uncontrollably for 6 hours, three nights that Miles didn't get bedtime stories because Lucas was at work and Will screamed during Miles' entire bedtime routine. But the fussing has settled to a very dull roar. He needs to be held and rocked from 6 pm to around 9:30 or 10 pm when he falls into a deep sleep. But the uncontrollable crying, the crying that nothing will soothe (not a pacifier, swaddling, bouncing, singing, music, shushing, or breastfeeding), that crying has ceased. Even if it does rear its ugly head, the duration is now five minutes, instead of one or two hours. Both Lucas and I believe Will's fussy period was much worse than Miles' but it is hard to remember everything accurately when it happened four years ago.
We've spent the last month going to the pool, hanging with friends, doing household chores, and living our lives. Monday and Tuesday mornings are sing along and story time respectively. Tuesday and Fridays are grocery shopping. Wednesday and Thursday are free days. We went to the DC zoo recently. We're trying to prioritize time with Frankie because she is moving to Colorado later this month. Mike has moved there already and his absence is felt. We're going to feel a bit sad for a while after they move.
As the fussy wave peaked, the smiles started to emerge. As each day passes, Will smiles and reacts more and more. He even giggles in his sleep and it's the best sound in the world.
Here are the pictures from Will's second month:
