14 months

Late last week was Miles' month day.  He's now fourteen months!  Sometimes Lucas and I look at him and think, "Wow, he's really his own little person now." And he shows it by being opinionated and stubborn, throwing tantrums when we come in from being outside or won't give him what he wants.  We had to cut out all TV because he would whine and cry if we weren't watching it each night before bed.  Luckily, at this age, it only took a few days to break that pattern and he doesn't really point at the TV anymore.

Tantrum!!!!!

Despite these few things we are so in love with him.  He has grown a ton in the last month.  Here is a list of some of his new developments.
  • He sits down, like, purposefully sits down. Before this he would kind of fall over or just continue standing. Now he bends his knees and gently sits.
  • He'll sit anywhere, including the middle of the sidewalk.
  • He runs.  He's always been a mover and a shaker but he full out runs.

  • He spins.

  • He stacks blocks. (And loves knocking them down).
  • He can put some shape blocks through the right hole. Sometimes.
  • He can identify the following words (most of the time): moon, sun, giraffe, cat, dog, duck, bear, outside, shake, get, bring, kick, kiss, hug, spin, dance, all done, downstairs, upstairs, bath, shoe, socks, feet, hands, nose, mouth, belly button, nap, sleep, eat, book, truck, train, ball, balloon.  There are probably more that I can't remember.
  • He signs "all done" whenever he's done eating. Or done being in the pool.  Or done with the diaper change.
  • He dances to music.
  • He can get up and down from higher places by himself (bed, couch).
    Getting down from the bed
  • If we're sitting on the floor he will come and climb into our laps (before we would pull him into our laps).
  • He has started standing on things that are unstable: the rocker footstool, overturned toys, his push car, Lucas' belly. When he gets on the unstable thing, he stands all the way up, puffs out his chest, smiles and yells.  He's so proud.

  • He can wade through the baby pool really well, without falling.
  • He's started blowing on food when we give it to him, as if it's hot, even if it's a blueberry.
  • He's starting to use spoons to feed himself.
Yum.

He's getting it.

Most of the time!

The little one couldn't have been more than 5 years old.
She just scooped Miles up and lifted him straight over her head.
She said, "He's so little."  Yes, yes he is.
