Hey, everybody. Colleen is starting a Doctorate of Nursing Practice and is going to be really busy so I (Lucas) am going to take over doing the blog for a little while!
At the end of the summer, we went on a trip to see family and friends in Massachusetts and Maine. We got to do a lot of swimming in lakes and ponds. Miles discovered the joys of skippin' rocks (or at least throwing them), ridin' horses, chasin' chickens and various other delights of the rural life. We stayed in a cabin at a pond with a group of Colleen's friends, including a nearly four-year old named Redd, who quickly became Miles' best friend and worst enemy. They couldn't play together for 2 minutes before it devolved into screaming and violence, but couldn't be apart for 2 minutes before we heard either "Where's my friend, Miles?" or "Where Redd is?". It was pretty adorable. We visited our friends Emily and Jon, and their children Abby and Elsa on their horse farm in Massachusetts, and of course visited grandparents and aunt Amy.
Miles started taking gymnastics classes with his friend, Frankie, and seems to really love it. He has developed into an insane climber. I see him climbing things that are made for kids twice his age all the time. His fearless climbing means he takes a lot of falls too, though. Nothing too bad, but he is rarely without a bruise or scrape somewhere these days.
His pretending game needs work. He tends to just announce that he is one TV or movie character and I am another one. "I'm Buddy, you're Don" "I'm Eve, you're Wall-E" "I'm Curious George, You're Yellow Hat.", but then just goes about doing what he would be doing anyway. One day he said, "I'm Daddy, you're Miles" and that was pretty exciting.
Anyway, on to the pictures!
