And yet, this is going to sound strange, I feel like I'm missing some sort of mom gene where I'm supposed to want to stay home and take care of my kid. I feel... guilty, I guess that's the word, for having such an easy time going back to work. I mean, as I drove in to work the first day I felt a little weepy but once I got there and started doing my job I felt great. I thought about Miles often throughout the day but I knew he was in good hands with Lucas and I knew I would see him at the end of the day. Anyway, it's kind of a mixed bag, the exhilaration and the guilt for feeling exhilarated.
For so long Miles has been working on his gross motor development (steady head, standing with support, etc.) and I was worried his fine motor development was being neglected. But this week his fine motor skills are popping up all over the place! He no longer swats aimlessly at things - he actually makes contact and his little fingers explore the object while he has a look of deep concentration (and major drool bubbles) on his face!
Here's where I get to brag about our baby. "Oh, he's such a genius baby!" Miles can roll over. Not just front to back which is an advanced skill for three month olds but, he can roll back to front! That skill is not supposed to develop until he's 5 to 6 months! "Whoa! Our baby is a genius!" The video of him rolling over is not very impressive - it looks like it's an accident, but trust us, he has rolled over both ways several times in a row.
Uncle Schuyler came to visit last weekend. We watched lots of the Olympics and made faces at Miles. On Tuesday, my last day before work, we went to the zoo - Miles slept though the whole thing! This weekend we are expecting a visit from my sister Amy and my mother. Last night, after I got home from work, Lucas and Miles and I went to a food truck rally and ate some really good food. Lucas got a few pork tacos, I got a crab cake grilled cheese and then we had dessert. Lucas had chocolate covered bacon and a chocolate dipped ice cream cone. I had vanilla soft serve in cherry flavored water ice! Holy moly was that water ice/vanilla ice cream thing good!

These videos are awesome. I wish I were going to Stanford!
ReplyDeleteI may be biased but Stanford would be lucky if Miles chose it. Yes they are awesome.
