Last Sunday, Granny and Gramps Carscadden were nice enough to come over and babysit so Lucas and I could have our first date alone since Miles was born! We ate great food and drank wine! And were home within two hours!
We might ask the grandparents for more frequent babysitting once they move into their new house! It's not all settled yet but their offer on a house about 25 minutes away was accepted this week!
Our newest endeavor is trying to get rid of Miles' pacifier. When we started using it, a few weeks after he was born, our goal was to keep it until four months. Four months is rapidly approaching and he sure does love his pacifier. Especially for sleep. Recently he's not needed it during the day at all except for naps. He can easily get his hands to his mouth for sucking and soothing but we usually have him wrapped up for sleep which doesn't allow access to his hands. So, this week, we've worked on having him nap without being wrapped up, but still using the pacifier. We'll work on nighttime sleeping without a wrap next and then hopefully we can get rid of the pacifier some time in the fourth month.
For the last three weekends we've walked to the local farmer's market. It serves a bunch of purposes: exercise, reinforcement that Miles is indeed the cutest baby in the world, and I can't get enough of those gigantic locally grown peaches!
Here are some pictures of our very own locally grown baby:

Locally grown babies are the best kind of babies!
ReplyDeleteAlthough, I guess that makes me sound like a jerk who doesn't think adopted kids are any good.
Just can't win...
I really love that mother-son portrait.
