3 months

Today Miles is three months old.  No stats on height and weight because he doesn't go back to the pediatrician until next month.  Here's a hint though: he's not wearing 9 month size clothing!  Apparently the pictures I've posted make him look very long, so my mother, on her short visit last weekend, brought some 9 month size clothing.  I mean, he needs 9 month size clothing eventually so it's just fine.  I think he'll wear his beach hunk onesie ironically in February.

The armholes are too big!
These are supposed to be shorts!

Speaking of visits, my (sort of) sister Amy visited last weekend.  I've known Amy since she was 6 or 7.  Her father and my mother have been in a relationship since I was in my very early teens.  When she would stay with us for weekends she would sleep on the trundle bed in my room.  She's grown into the most beautiful, responsible, interesting person and I'm glad to have her in my life.  While she was here we made faces at the baby and ate some food and drank some wine and went to the American Visionary Arts Museum.

My mother also happened to be in DC last weekend for a meeting and so she rented a car and drove up to spend a few hours with her grandson.

This week was the first full week back to work.  Everything was hunky dory until Wednesday morning when I realized that I leave for work before I get to see the morning smile.  You can see it here in the video below.  It's fleeting but it's right after he makes eye contact and I say "Hi" in a really soft voice.

That morning smile, that's what I realize I'm missing now that I'm working full time.  He smiles and seems happy to see me when I get home from work but the morning smiles take over his whole face, his whole being.  And Wednesday morning, at 7:20, I looked down at my two sleeping dudes and I thought, "He's not going to see me for 10 hours. He'll wake up and I'll be gone." It was a little depressing.  But Thursday morning I didn't need to be at the office until 9:30 and Friday he woke before I left.  It might just be an issue of adjusting his sleep schedule so he wakes around the time I'm going to work.

Here are some more photos of our three month old:

I know I'm strapped in but I still won't take none of your flak! Photo by Amy Moore.

If you ever wanted to know how a sleeping baby would react to a flash please see the photo above.

Miles? Who's Miles? From now on call me <-}{@.

Bongo Lion is my best friend.

I'm just a guy with a frog

Haven't I seen you around somewhere before?

Sometimes Miles kicks our camera hand when he's had enough pictures.

Miles hates fashion! Down with shoes!

Lastly, it appears our baby only rolls over under duress!
